A new study has identified Bournemouth as the top UK city for luxurious gluten-free dining experiences.

The research by the Prestigious UK Organic Estate companyRhug Estateanalysed fine-dining healthy restaurants catering to gluten-free diets across major UK cities. Utilizing TripAdvisor as the primary data source, the study focused on establishments rated four stars and above that explicitly offer gluten-free options. The study determined which cities offer the highest concentration of premium gluten-free dining by comparing the number of these restaurants to each city’s land area. Land area data was sourced from the World Population Review.

Bournemouthranks first with one four-star-rated healthy gluten-free restaurant every 0.9 square miles. The city offers a haven for gluten-free foodies with 19 highly rated establishments across just 18 square miles. Standout options include Twelve Eatery, celebrated for its chic interior and innovative plant-based gluten-free dishes, and The Mad Cucumber, known for wholesome, allergen-friendly cuisine in a stylish setting.

Southend-on-Seais second, with a gluten-free hotspot every 1.2 square miles. With 13 standout restaurants within 16 square miles, the city offers seaside luxury with a health-conscious flair. Top-rated options like Padrino and Utopia Coffee Lounge provide gluten-free indulgences without compromising taste or presentation.

Portsmouthtakes third position with one high-end gluten-free eatery every 1.7 square miles. The city hosts nine top-rated venues across 15.5 square miles. Highlights include Monty’s, known for its elegant plates and friendly service, and The Southsea Deli, a gem for artisanal, gluten-free comfort food.

Looking at the study, a spokesperson from Rhug Estate commented:

“This study showcases the UK cities where luxury dining and dietary inclusivity go hand in hand.”

“Whether dining in a seaside town like Bournemouth or a vibrant port city like Portsmouth, gluten-free guests now have greater access to exceptional meals that never compromise taste or atmosphere.”

Liverpoolclaims the fourth spot with one four-star-rated gluten-free restaurant every 1.9 square miles. The city boasts 23 healthy, highly-rated venues across its 43 square miles. Popular choices include Leaf on Bold Street and Maray, which are celebrated for their modern twists on gluten-free cuisine.

Oxfordranks five, offering one luxurious gluten-free restaurant every 2.2 square miles. With eight highly rated gluten-free establishments in just 17.6 square miles, this historic university city balances heritage with health-conscious dining. Noteworthy venues include The Handle Bar Café & Kitchen, known for its vibrant gluten-free menu and artsy décor. The Coconut Tree is a favourite for bold Sri Lankan flavours with dietary inclusivity in mind.

Edinburghplaced sixth with one upscale gluten-free restaurant every 2.3 square miles.Manchesterfollowed closely in seventh, offering one highly rated gluten-free venue every 2.5 square miles.Glasgowsecured the eighth spot with a ratio of 2.8 square miles per restaurant, whileReadingcame in ninth at 3.0. Completing the top ten wasLondon, which featured one premium gluten-free restaurant for every 3.2 square miles.
