A content creator on TikTok was shot multiple times and killed while doing on livesstreaming on the social networking app.
On the evening of 29 April 2025, 25-year-old Jabari Johnson, the son of reggae artist Jah Mason, who is popularly known as Baba Skeng, was gruesomely gunned down by an assassin while he was livestreaming on TikTok.
The shooting happened outside of Queenie’s Snack Shop on Red Hills Road, St Andrew, Jamaica, and marks the fourth time a Jamaican TikToker has been killed. Watch below:
The video showed Baba Skeng on TikTok live with another man. While he talked during the stream, he never knew his execution was seconds away.
Soon, a hooded gunman appeared behind him and shot him at close range in the back of his head. He dropped to the ground as the executioner fired more rounds at him, while bystanders scampered for safety.
Jamaican media reported that Baba Skeng died on the scene and that the killing was under investigation by the police. Skeng was also said to have no previous gang related criminal record.
The killing of Jamaican TikTokers in recent months is something influencers in the country will definitely be worrying about now. In September 2024, TikToker Keauno ‘Popsy’ Watson was shot and killed. This was followed by 23-year-old Xavier Fogah, popularly known by his stage name “Niah Gang”, who was killed in Panton Lane in St Catherine on December 7, 2024. 3 days after, TikToker Marlon Samuels, aka 41 Busshead, was shot and killed in Montego Bay.
According to Statista, the murder rate in Jamaica is high, at 40.1 homicides per 100,000 people. However, the killing of TikTok influencers in an execution style seems to be targeted. The Jamaican authorities, as already reported, are investigating the current killing, and hopefully, a connection might be made to unravel the core reason.
