Nancy Mace, a 47-year-old member of Congress, showed a nude silhouette of herself, which was recorded without her consent. The presentation was made at a House Cybersecurity Subcommittee hearing on “Breach of Trust: Surveillance in Private Spaces.”
Mace told the committee that the image, along with others, was obtained from where it was hidden in a cache belonging to Charleston tech entrepreneur Patrick Bryant, who is also her ex-fiancé.
She accused the man and three other men of sexually abusing women, but they all denied the accusation.
Mace had earlier reported in a passionate speech on the floor of the House in February how she saw more than 10,000 videos and pictures that show how her former fiancé and some of his colleagues abused women, including herself. Patrick Bryant only tagged the accusation “false and malicious.”
The members of the House of Representatives have since been sued for defamation by one of the accused. She has also countersued another.
She has hired the services of the U.S. Attorney’s Office lawyer in South Carolina as her legal representative, indicating that she will use congressional privilege as a defence.
As Tuesday’s hearing nears its end, Mace mentioned, “There is no defamation in the truth… May God help you.”
