Two goals from England forward Harry Kane, including his 30th straight successful penalty, helped Bayern Munich to secure an amazing 3-0 victory at home against 10-man Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last-16 first leg clash against 10-man Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich dominated the match since it commenced despite being winless in six matches since Xabi Alonso took charge against Bayer Leverkusen. The first goal in the game was scored by Kane in the ninth minute through a header from a cross from Michael Olise.
The second goal was scored by Jamal Musiala not too long after the second half of the match began, converting an error from goalkeeper Matej Kovar to make it 2-0.
The visitor’s woes continued when a red card was shown to Nordi Mukiele after receiving a second yellow card for a rough tackle on Alphonso Davies.
Not long after Mukiele was sent off the match, Edmund Tapsoba, who came into the game as a substitute, fouled Kane in the box, which prompted a VAR check to rule a penalty in favor of Bayern Munich, which was confidently converted into a goal by Harry Kane.
It was a surprising turn for Bayer Leverkusen, which did not lose a game in the Bundesliga this season and recently beat Bayern in the German Cup, seeming second-best.
Bayern Munich head coach Alonso, who had earlier preached calmness to his team before the game started, watched on as his side celebrated another win, boosting their Champions League final hope on home soil.
