Four US soldiers have been confirmed missing during a scheduled training mission close to Lithuania’s border on Tuesday.
They were reported missing at approximately 4:45 p.m., and immediately, the US Army, Europe, and the Lithuania Armed Forces started looking for them.
The next day, they found their M88 armored vehicle which they used for the training submerged in water.
“The vehicle was discovered submerged in a body of water in a training area after a search by United States Army, Lithuanian Armed Forces and other Lithuanian authorities,” the statement said.
“Recovery efforts are underway by the US Army and Lithuanian Armed Forces and civilian agencies. Search efforts for the Soldiers continue.”
It was supposed to be a new field play for the soldiers from who are already trying to keep the peace in Eastern Europe. However, things did not go as planned.
The Lithuanian Defense Minister has also being following the investigation closely and reporting to the United States. These soldiers were helping Lithuania out. They deserve to be alive and well.
“Everybody remains on standby, ready to provide emergency medical support,” she said. “Please rest assured that we will continue our efforts tirelessly.”
They are hoping the four soldiers will be found alive. The United States had deployed hundreds of soldiers to Eastern Europe to help out with any brooding conflict.
