The crash of a F-35 fighter jet was captured on a mobile phone by a person on the ground at the Eielson Air Force Base in Salcha, Alaska.
The video saw the fighter jet dropping to the ground and giving up a huge explosion on impact. The pilot safely evacuated the aircraft and was also recorded coming down on a parachute.
Though the pilot escaped unharmed, he was still taken to Bassett Army Hospital for evaluation
The air crash happened on Tuesday at about 1 pm when the plane wanted to land on the runway along the Richardson Highway at the airport close to Fairbanks. Video below:
Reporting on the air mishap, Col. Paul Townsend said the pilot reported an emergency during the training flight and ejecting the bomber. The representative also said the crash was under investigation and the cause of the crash of the supersonic and stealth fighter jet which cost about $82 million, will be unraveled.
People and motorists are advised not to converge along the highway to look at the crash which is visible from that point. The Eielson airbase also reiterated that it was a federal crime to take photos of its fighter jets and military airbase from that area.
