Former Florida attorney general and Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Pam Bondi, has vowed to put a stop to “the partisan weaponization” of the justice system in the United States when she is confirmed, a statement that aligns with Trump’s position on politically motivated prosecution.

The attorney general nominee pick, who is now 59 years old, had formerly served as attorney general in Florida between 2011 and 2019, and she played a major role in defending Trump while his impeachment trial was ongoing, which ended up in acquittal.

The former attorney general’s nominations comes during contentious hearings for other offices that include the Republican-majority Senate and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as the Republican-majority Senate reviews the nominees appointed by Donald Trump.

The president-elect has shown that he has a plan to use the justice system against his political enemies when he returns as president for his second term.

Pam Bondi reiterated her willingness to ensure that the justice system is used to combat violent crime, address child sex abuse, and fight drug trafficking.

Among her plans are to focus on border problems, national security, and protecting free speech, the right to bear arms, and religious freedom, while she also seeks the reform of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
