The United States’ president-elect, Donald Trump, hosted Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday at his Mar-a-Lago resort for dinner, pushing on in having a series of meetings with leaders in the tech space such as Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.
The meetings were organized to make a relationship with the president-elect, Trump, whose first term raises tension between him and many in the tech industry.
The President-Elect and the Apple CEO, Tim Cook, talked much about the layer’s company, Apple’s tax disputes with the European Union. Not too long, Apple loses its appeal against €13 billion ($14.34 billion) in back taxes that were owed to Ireland.
“He said the European Union has just fined us $15 billion,” Trump recalled of his conversation with Cook in an October interview with podcaster Patrick Bet-David. “Then on top of that they got fined by the European Union another $2 billion.”
The European Union sees the tax breaks for the company, Apple, by Ireland as illegal state support.
There is a plan by the CEO of OpenAI, Altman, to give $1 million to support Trump’s inauguration, with Meta and Amazon also donating $1 million each to the campaign fund.
Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos, who was not a fan of Donald Trump in his first term, recently declared his optimism that Trump will perform in his second term.
Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that the president-elect did well during the campaign season after the private session at Mar-a-Lago.
