OpenAI has launched a new artificial intelligence-powered web browser called ChatGPT Atlas. The web browser has the features of the OpenAI generative chatbot.
The web browser has the combination of the standard appearance of a browser with the ability to summarise content with ChatGPT. The browser will perform tasks directly on any webpage and answer questions directly.
ChatGPT can be accessed via the web browser through the “Ask ChatGPT” feature in a sidebar, which will now eliminate the need to switch tabs. The browser will have the memory for personalised user experiences, allowing users the opportunity to check through former interactions or web history.
The “agent mode” feature in the web browser allows ChatGPT to perform tasks like editing documents, shopping, and booking reservations.
The release of the new web browser puts OpenAI in a competitive stage with other giants in the industry, such as Google, whose Chrome now has Gemini features, and Perplexity AI, which, not too long ago, launched its Comet browser.
The announcement sees the shares of Alphabet falling by 2%. ChatGPT Atlas is now available to users with Windows; macOS, iOS, and Android versions will be available soon. Agent mode features are only accessible to Plus and Pro subscribers.
