Premier League title holder Manchester City was left to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium against Everton as Erling Haaland‘ was unable to convert a penalty opportunity to a goal.
Manchester City took the early lead after Bernardo Silva converted an assist from Jeremy Doku to a goal in the 14th minute after the game started shooting in a deflection off Jarrad Branthwaite. Silva almost netted another goal after he fired a shot from Phil Foden’s pass over the bar.
Just before the end of the halftime, the visitor Everton equalized through Iliman Ndiaye after firing a deep cross from Abdoulaye Doucoure into the top corner of the post in the 36th minute.
While Manchester City created more assists, it was not a lucky day for them as they failed to convert the assists into a lead. Everton’s Vitalii Mykolenko foul on Savinho earned Manchester City another opportunity, this time, a penalty, but Jordan Pickford prevented Haaland from finding the net as he saved his low effort.
Not long after Pickford saved Haaland’s penalty kick, the striker created another opportunity, but the goal was ruled out.
The draw added to Manchester City’s woes after winning just one of nine games this season, while Everton earned their third straight draw. City will play on December 29 at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City, while the visitor will host Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park.
