On Sunday, actors Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors shared the news of their engagement while posing for photos at the EBONY Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles. According to the couple, their first interaction began two years ago in a chance meeting at this same venue’s unisex bathroom.
Good, who is 43 years old, lit up the red carpet as she showed off her stunning diamond ring while announcing their engagement.
When asked about her relationship with Majors, she smiled and said, “In love.” Although they are keeping many details under wraps, Good shared that there were actually two proposals. She told E! News that she was “very shocked” and found the whole experience “wonderful.”
Their relationship started in May of last year during a tough time for Majors. The 35-year-old actor was arrested in March 2023 after he was accused of assault by a former girlfriend. According to NBC News, in December of that same year, a jury in Manhattan found him guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment. As a result, he was ordered to complete a 52-week in-person counseling program, continue with mental health therapy, and pay a $250 fine.
Meagan Good was photographed on multiple occasions accompanying him to some of his court appearances. When questioned about public reactions to their relationship, Good addressed the matter directly during a July 2023 Today show appearance. “I take everyone’s opinion and advice into account, for sure, but at the end of the day, I’m the one who has to live my life,” she stated, adding that their relationship has been filled with “honest conversations, love, respect, just the care, and thoughtfulness.”
Meagan Good was married to DeVon Franklin for nine years before they announced their divorce three years ago. She’s now set to tie the knot with Jonathan Majors, who used to be a well-known actor in Marvel films but stepped back from the spotlight after his conviction. Their engagement announcement is one of the few times they have appeared publicly together in recent months.
