Barcelona currently leads the La Liga table as they continued their perfect run, securing a sixth consecutive victory and extending their lead at the top of the league with a decisive win against Espanyol at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Dani Olmo converted Lamine Yamal‘s assist into their first goal 12 minutes after the match commenced, completing slick Barcelona play. Raphina, who captains the team, quickly added another goal through Marc Casado in the 23rd minute.

While Espanyol scored a goal jubilating, it was ruled out for offside after a VAR check. Not long after, in the 31st minute, Dani Olmo scored another to make it 3-0 before the end of the first half.

The second half was not the perfect one for Barcelona, as Espanyol managed to secure a goal through Javi Puado and an assist by Carlos Romero. The team scored another two that were ruled out again for an offside. The same fate befell Barcelona when Ansu Fati’s injury-time goal was disallowed for an offside.

Barcelona’s strong form is not in doubt, as the team has recorded four consecutive wins and achieved 11 victories in 12 matches. The La Liga giant will play against Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League before returning to play against Real Sociedad in La Liga.

Espanyol currently needs to win more games after losing six of their seven games and faces a crucial battle against fellow strugglers Valencia.
