Denver Broncos’ Josh Reynolds Injured in Shooting Following Club Visit, Two Arrests Made

Denver Broncos Josh Reynolds Injured in Shooting Following Club Visit Two Arrests Made

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds and two others were injured in a shooting incident on October 18 after being followed from Shotgun Willies, a Glendale strip club, according to court documents obtained by KUSA. Denver Police confirmed that they have arrested Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, who now face charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

The incident began around 2:45 a.m. when Reynolds and his companions left the club. According to court documents, multiple 911 calls were received shortly before 3 a.m., reporting shots fired near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street. One caller reported being shot while driving a blue Ford Bronco, while another stated two friends had been shot and they were being followed.

Josh Reynolds sustained two gunshot wounds – one to his left arm and another to the back of his head, court documents revealed. A second victim was shot in the back, while a third suffered injuries from shattered glass. KUSA reported that all three victims sustained additional scrapes from climbing over a fence while fleeing their vehicle.

Police investigation revealed that the victims’ vehicle was found on Interstate 25 near Belleview Avenue with numerous bullet impacts on the back driver-side and front windshield, according to court documents.

Surveillance footage from the strip club showed Mendoza watching the victims inside the establishment before following them out. Multiple vehicles were also observed entering the parking lot and it looked like some were waiting for Reynolds’ group to leave.

During questioning, Charlesworth claimed he was assisting a friend who had requested him to follow the group due to a previous conflict, KUSA reported. He denied shooting at the victims, stating the gunfire originated from other vehicles.

The Broncos later issued a statement confirming Reynolds “received treatment for minor injuries” but deferred further comment citing the ongoing legal process.

Before the incident occurred, Josh Reynolds, who signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Denver in March, was already on a four-week injured reserve because of a broken finger. He has recorded 12 catches for 183 yards this season.
