Steven Lawson, the lead pastor of Trinity Bible Church, has just been removed from his position after the elders of the church found out days ago that he was having an affair with a woman, who hasn’t been publicly identified. The details about the nature of their interactions is still private at the time of writing.
The new development was announced by the board of elders at Trinity through a statement posted on the church’s official website. According to their statement, Lawson’s removal is indefinite and he will not be receiving any form of compensation from the church. It is also stated that the “elders have met with Steve and will continue to come alongside him and pray for him with the ultimate goal of his personal repentance.”
The board at OnePassion Ministries has also released a statement to announce that Steven Lawson has resigned from his position as President at the organisation and will no longer be carrying out his duties as a founder. Additionally, they informed the public that all events and engagements that were previously scheduled have now been cancelled.
Steven Lawson has been with Trinity Bible Church since 2018. Before coming to Dallas, he had worked as a pastor in Alabama and Arkansas for 40 years, according to OnePassion Ministries. From one of his published books, “The Moment of Truth,” his author biography reveals that he is a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow, a host of the Institute for Expository Preaching, and a director of the Doctor of Ministry program at The Master’s Seminary.
Meanwhile, this is the second time in recent months that a pastor from Dallas area is facing allegations related to a woman. In June, Texas pastor Robert Morris resigned from his position at Gateway Church after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in the 1980’s when she was still a child.
