Leah Remini has broken the news of her separation from her husband, Angelo Pagán, after they have been married for more than 20 years.
Remini, a 54-year-old actress, broke the Internet with the news on Thursday, August 29, after she shared the update on her social media page saying that their decision to separate from each other after more than 20 years that they are married is a difficult one, but she and her husband “no longer fit” together.
Remini also shared on the Internet that the decision is a sad one for her and Pagán, who got married in 2003; they are equally “proud of how we worked through this together,” including that they still have some “figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal.”
In defense of the reason for their separation, the actress explained that she and her husband “changed, as people do,” and “we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.”
She also included that she and Pagan wanted to be “transparent” about their divorce because their marriage was also a public one, whether through specials on VH1 or their reality show.
The couples were joined by a Scientologist minister in Las Vegas in 2003, and the marriage produced a female child, Sofia, the following year, 2004. Pagán also has three sons from another relationship that he had before meeting Remini—Angelo Jr., Alex, and Nico—as well as two grandchildren, Mila and Markus.
Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán first had an encounter at a Puerto Rican restaurant, a moment Remini described on the talk show RuPaul some 5 years ago.
They equally had the challenge of leaving Scientology together after the actress stopped attending the church in 2013 following 30 years of membership, with Pagán having to join in her decision.
