Country music icon Willie Nelson has been forced to cancel his appearance at the Outlaw Music Festival this weekend due to health concerns. The announcement came via social media, stating,
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days.”
Despite Nelson’s absence, the festival will proceed at Coastal Credit Union Music Park. Fans can anticipate a special performance by Willie’s son, Lukas Nelson, and the Family Band, who will “perform a special set to include Willie’s classics and other songs.” The lineup still boasts impressive acts such as Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse.
With temperatures expected to soar into the 90s, festival organizers have addressed concerns about attendee comfort. A statement from the venue assures, “Coastal Credit Union Music Park wants to help fans stay cool so they can enjoy the show.”
Measures include allowing “fans to bring empty, reusable water bottles into the venue which they can fill up all night long at our free hydration stations.” Additionally, the venue will provide “misting fans, multiple cooling stations and… complimentary sunscreen available for fans.”
This isn’t Willie Nelson’s first bout with health-related cancellations. In 2018, he experienced similar issues, leading to show cancellations. However, his team remains optimistic, expecting him to “rejoin the tour next week.”
