A pro-Palestinian supporter thought to raise awareness at The Kaaba or Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, by raising Palestine’s flag, but security quickly took it down.
The video was shared on Twitter by a user who captioned “The flag of “Palestine” is forbidden at the holiest site in Islam.” “I’m glad Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 is cracking down on pro Palestine 🇵🇸 activism in their country, both in person and online”, another comment wrote, and a third person said “Normal Muslims don’t even want to be associated with Palestinian jihad”.
However, one quickly pointed out that the Palestinian flag was not taken down because Saudi Arabia was in support of Israel, but rather, because nationalism was not allowed in the Holy Site.
“That place for praying ONLY, not for politics or any other current affairs… That is fair…”, another supported. “Pray for the Palestinians, putting up a flag and posing with the Kaaba aint gonna do anything”, a third added.
