Rams Draft Michigan Running Back Blake Corum With 83rd Overall Pick In 2024 NFL Draft

Jim Harbaugh‘s cherished running back from Michigan is making the move to Los Angeles, but not to play for the Chargers. Instead, Blake Corum joins the Los Angeles Rams as the 83rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Corum played a pivotal role in powering Michigan’s offense during their national championship pursuit under Harbaugh’s guidance. Known for his ability to produce significant gains behind a formidable offensive line, Corum became the go-to option for the Wolverines whenever they needed a reliable playmaker over the past couple of seasons.

In the 2022 campaign, Corum amassed an impressive 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns in 12 games, contributing significantly to Michigan’s successful run to the College Football Playoff. Unfortunately, a knee injury sidelined him for the final two games of the season.

Despite the setback, Corum opted to delay his draft entry and returned to Ann Arbor for the 2023 season, where he continued to shine, racking up 1,245 yards and a school-record 27 touchdowns. His stellar performance culminated in a Michigan career boasting a record-breaking 58 touchdowns.

Standing at 5-foot-8, Corum demonstrates exceptional vision on the field, often anticipating openings in the defense and exploiting them effectively. He excels at setting up his blockers, manipulating linebackers to create gaps for his runs. Additionally, Corum exhibits rapid north-south acceleration and impressive balance, enabling him to evade tackles and power through defenders at the goal line.

However, concerns linger about Corum’s size and speed, as well as his proficiency as a pass-catcher at the professional level. Despite these uncertainties, his relentless work ethic, toughness, and football IQ make him a valuable asset in any backfield.

Joining the Rams, Corum provides much-needed depth to the team’s running back unit, complementing the breakout talent of Kyren Williams, who emerged as a surprise star in the 2023 season.
