San Diego Unified School Called Out For Inviting Students to Change Their Name And/Or Gender & Instructs Kids That They Can Hide It From Their Parents.

According to a post on social media, San Diego Unified School actively encourages kids under their care to change their name and/or gender and instructs the students that they can hide it from their parents.

The post called out San Diego Unified School as actively helping children to identify as trans or nonbinary in school and helping to keep it a secret from their parents.

A circular from the school read:

We have two options for a student name/gender change:
Option 1 = Names are changed on teacher rosters in PowerSchool ONLY! This is done by the school site on the Demographics page.
Option 2 = Name/Gender changes are completed by the District’s PowerSchool group. Changes indicating an authentic name or gender are reflected on the Demographics page of
PowerSchool. PowerSchool then syncs with Active Directory, and changes will appear in Google Classroom, Clever, Zoom…
***We can only complete name changes for students in San Diego Unified School District.

*ALERT OPTION 2: It is HIGHLY recommended to complete this option with a staff member you trust or with your parent if they are affirming. If you select this option, please be advised that these changes will be reflected on online documents, documents mailed to your home, PowerSchool Parent Portal, and other documents that show name and gender.
*ALERT: If there is a safety concern for you in * having your parents/guardians see your authentic name on school documents, you should NOT complete the Option 2 name change. By clicking, “continue,” you acknowledge that these alerts have been understood and you wish to proceed with the Option 2 Name & Gender Change Request.

Many in the comment section called for legal action to be brought against the school and likened it to the recent case of the boy kicked out of school for wearing a Gadsden flag patch.

This is coming amidst the number of backlashes in recent times about exposing little kids to LGBTQIA and other sexual content in schools.
