Parts Of San Francisco Bay Area Wakes Up To A 3.5 Magnitude Earthquake

Some parts of the San Francisco Bay Area woke up to a 3.5 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday morning.

Theearthquake happened at 6:01 a.m. and was majored in Pacifica, along an area of the coastal city around the San Andreas fault. The quake was strong and was felt near San Francisco International Airport.

Two aftershocks, each of magnitude 2.6, were also detected several minutes after the earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported light shaking like a vehicle striking a building, felt in the vicinity of the airport.

The focus of the earthquake was about five miles west of San Francisco International Airport, and about 12 miles southwest of downtown San Francisco. The quake was also felt in the San Mateo and Palo Alto areas, the San Jose area, and the East Bay; however, many residents also reported not feeling the earthquake.
