An incident involving the Concord Police Department occurred at the Concord Mills Mall on Wednesday in the late afternoon.
There is no ongoing threat to the public, according to the police department. To look into the shooting, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was contacted.
On Wednesday afternoon, officials intended to address the public at a conference.
The mall is situated in Cabarrus County close to Interstate 85, close to Mecklenburg County’s northern border.
People who claimed to be shopping at the mall or working there posted on social media that they had to take cover. Some people described hiding in stores, stockrooms, and changing rooms.
Several ambulances respond to the mall, as seen in social media footage from the scene. Someone shared a video of a person on a stretcher on social media.
No one was injured in the shooting, according to the police.
When they heard gunfire, two people who were in the mall at the time told WCNC News that they ran into a fitting room to hide.
In the mall close to Build-a-Bear, the two people assisted nearby children who were on a field trip.
“All I was thinking about was the kids, trying to help out, making sure they were okay,” the witnesses said.
