According to a volunteer dive team that has been helping with the search, the body of missing California youngster Kiely Rodni has been discovered. After attending a “senior send-off” party north of Lake Tahoe in northern California close to the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee on August 6, the 16-year-old went missing.
A car with Kiely Rodni’s body inside was reportedly discovered upside down in 14 feet of water in Prosser Lake, just a few hundred yards from the campground, according to the dive team Adventures with Purpose. The identity of Rodni’s body has not been verified by police.
The dive team alerted the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, which is currently conducting an investigation with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, and other cooperating agencies.
An update on the investigation will be given at a news conference that the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office will hold on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District.
The recent grad and her 2013 silver Honda CRV were sought after by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and almost a dozen other law enforcement organizations in the Tahoe National Forest.
Since there were probably more than 200 teenagers and young people at the senior party, the investigators also looked through hundreds of tips. Monday saw a reduction in the search activity.
Kiely Rodni’s mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, characterized her daughter as a unique and vibrant woman who loves playing music, science, baking, and dancing.
