Shark Week 2022: What is it?
The annual television program called Shark Week premieres on the Discovery Channel. The week-long documentary centres on sharks, as its name suggests. The show was created, so the media myth goes, to dispel people’s fear of sharks who had seen the Jaws film series.
The inaugural episode of Shark Week aired in July 1988, and production has continued ever since. As a result of having its premieres in over 72 nations, Shark Week is now the longest-running television program in history.
Shark Week 2022, the 34th season, will mark Dwayne’s debut as the show’s host. TV host Josh Gates presided over Shark Week for the 32nd and 33rd times. Shaquille O’Neal, a former NBA star, hosted the program in 2018, while actor Rob Riggle did it in 2019.
Ocean campaigner Peter Benchley, who hosted Shark Week in 1994, was the show’s initial host.
