A 30-year-old man identified as Ramsilochan has been arrested by the Indian police in Matheran, Maharashtra, for beheading his wife in a lodge, late last Sunday.
It was gathered that the man, an IT engineer has been suspecting his wife, identified as 27 years old Poonam, of marital infidelity, and they have not been living together since they got married in May 2021, as custom demands.
The suspecting husband allegedly beheaded his wife and removed their names which were tattooed on her arms.
He then proceeded to dispose of her head, throwing it into a very deep gorge before starting on his way home.
Poonam’s brother, Ramesh, claims the murder was pre-meditated as the killer’s husband’s family has been demanding money and other valuables from his sister, since the wedding ceremony.
Part of the marriage culture demands that the bride returns and stays in her parent’s home for some months after the wedding ceremony before the marriage is deemed complete and she can then return to her husband.
