Joe Biden was inaugurated yesterday as the 46th President of the United States of America together with Kamala Harris as the Vice President, at the West Front of the Capitol. The ceremony which could have been the most attended, would have its attendees via screen, due to the rampaging Covid-19 and ensuring social distancing.
However, some key political figures will be physically present, in the likes of former US Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. However, former President Donald Trump made himself the first US President to be absent in his successor’s inauguration, as he decided to use the Airforce One, one last time, to a trip to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida! Vice President Pence was however present.
Some key artists performed in the inauguration ceremony. They include Katty Perry, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, and least we forget Lady Gaga, who sang the US national anthem that got everyone talking again.
President Joe Biden delivered his first national speech themed “America United”, which centered on uniting Americans as the only way of overcoming dark obstacles. He talked about the ravaging Corona-virus as well as the great effort been put on a daily basis by frontline workers to curb its spread, as well as the security issues in the country.
Celebrating America, which is the title for the TV event will kickstart by 8.30pm ET and will be hosted by Tom Hanks, and Eva Longoria, and that is when your favorite artists mentioned earlier will perform!
