Cristian Romero recorded a late draw as Tottenham Hotspur left with a point at Turf Moor against battling Burnley, causing ease for already pressured head coach, Thomas Frank.
Burnley almost recorded their first win at home this season in 14 games before Romero hit a header into the team’s net. Hotspur took possession of the first 45 minutes of the game and took the lead when Micky van de Ven’s efforts paid off, despite Martin Dubravka, Burnley’s goalkeeper, making an important double save earlier before then.
Tottenham did not celebrate much before their defensive error caused them a level as Axel Tuanzebe made a way into their net in stoppage time.
Burnley’s goalkeeper pulled a lot of frustration against Tottenham as the second half commenced, denying efforts from both Dominic Solanke and Djed Spence.
The home side, Burnley, took the lead against their visitors in the tournament when Lyle Foster, who came into the game as a substitute, bundled home to break the tie and return the match to 2-1.
Tottenham again took possession as the game was running to an end when Mathys Tel’s effort got denied and Xavi Simons hit the goalpost before Cristian Romero’s goal leveled the game and eased Tottenham’s head coach from further embarrassment.
