Qarabag’s hope of playing at the Champions League playoff returned to life with a shocking 3–2 home win on Wednesday against Eintracht Frankfurt, through a late decisive strike from Bahlul Mustafazade.

The Azerbaijani team now sits in 17th place in the table after accruing only 10 points, while Frankfurt, with only four points, sits in 33rd place in the table and has now been eliminated from the campaign.

Qarabag at home fired an early goal when Camilo Duran immediately pulled an effort to earn a rebound in the fourth minute. Frankfurt didn’t wait long before they responded and capitalized on a turnover and hit the net to level the score.

Qarabag created better opportunities for the lead before the end of the first 45 minutes, but the game became more tense as soon as the second half began.

Frankfurt finally earned the lead late on through a penalty from Fares Chaibi, only for Duran to level the goal minutes later with a simple strike.

Mustafazade then fired home the needed goal deep in the stoppage time to spark wild jubilations among team management and fans.

Qarabag will be playing its next game at Anfield against English giant Liverpool, while Tottenham Hotspur is expected to travel to Frankfurt on the final matchday.
