Real Madrid stays at the top of the La Liga table after earning a tough 1-0 win against Getafe through a late goal scored by French talisman Kylian Mbappe.

The Madrid forward scored the only goal in the match in the 80th minute, making his 10th this season, not long after Getafe’s Allan Nyom was shown red for a rough tackle against him.

Getafe, where the match was played in his home, continued to struggle in the season when Alex Sancris was also sent off the pitch for a foul that he committed in the 84th minute against Vinicius Jr.

In another game, Elche and Athletic Club recorded a draw with no goals in the game, with a crucial save by Unai Simon preserving the visitors from defeat.

Celta Vigo also recorded a 1-1 against Real Sociedad, while Levante was defeated 3-0 by a determined side, Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona snatched a 2-1 win from Girona through a stoppage-time header that was done by Ronald Araujo, and Osasuna was torn apart 1-0 by Atletico Madrid through a shot by Thiago Almada.

Sevilla was also defeated 3-1 by Mallorca as Oviedo lost 0-2 in the opener against Espanyol.
