Dwayne Johnson, the WWE wrestler and Hollywood actor, popularly known as “The Rock”, shocked fans when he lost so much weight. The action-movie star, known for his muscular and bulked-up body, came out much leaner for his next movie role, The Smashing Machine, which premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on September 1.
Fans present during the event on Monday could not help but applaud him for 15 minutes. It was incredible to see someone known for years for his physical attribute, an attribute that has endeared him to many and earned him hit movie roles, give it up for one role.
53-year-old Dwayne Johnson lost 60 pounds, an equivalent of 28kg, to act as legendary UFC fighter Mark Kerr, who, in reality, did not have his 300-pound bulky build.
The Rock now takes after Dave Bautista, a former WWE wrestler famous for his bulky build, which he also lost to focus squarely on the movie industry. According to Bautista, taking a leaner physique will increase his chances of appearing in more movie roles.
Dwayne Johnson, who is also an A-rated actor in Hollywood, said losing weight is something he has wanted for a long time, and just like Bautista, he revealed that a little voice inside of him has been telling him he can do more movies if only he sheds his weight.
With his sudden transformation, fans are skeptical to know how he did it; did he use the popular Ozempic drug used by Rebel Wilson, and which unfortunately has resulted in singer Avery being at a lifetime risk of breaking her bones at the slightest of mistakes due to osteoporosis, or did he painstakingly go through a natural way?
According to Dwayne, he achieved the dramatic weight loss through dieting – replacing his high-carb diet with high high-protein and low-sugar diet and workout, which focused on MMA training and cardio rather than his former workout for core strength.
Bollywoodlife reported that the renowned wrestler and actor was also advised by his doctor to lose weight in 2024 following a digestive health issue.
