Former Texas Longhorns WR Isaiah Bond Misses 2025 NFL Draft
In a not-so-surprising turn of events, former Texas Longhorns wide receiver, Isaiah Bond was not selected by any franchise in the 2025 NFL draft.
Anyone can attribute it to the fact that he has had run-ins with the law, with the latest being a sexual assault accusation.
Bond had decided to forgo his senior year to enter the NFL draft, hoping he would be a second-round pick despite his legal troubles. However, things did not go as planned for him.
Before the live draft, Bond heeded his outstanding warrants, turning himself into the authorities before he was released on bail. To show he had nothing to hide and was sure the accusations would pass, he fully cooperated with the police actively participating in the investigation.
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false,” Bond said in a statement.
He went on to implore online critics to hold their judgement till the investigation is concluded and he is found culpable of the heinous accusations.
Bond had been a star athlete in college, putting out beautiful performances for the Texas Longhorns. While he was with them, he recorded 34 receptions, 532 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the run to the College Football Playoff semifinal.
He even played through an ankle injury at some point to show his dedication to the game. But was it all worth it? No franchise wants to be associated with any legal trouble involving sexual assault, whether it has been proven or not.
