There is an uproar again in the SEO community after Google’s Gemini AIO was screenshotted giving the wrong information to the question, “Will water freeze at 27 degrees Fahrenheit”?
“No, water will not freeze at 27 degrees”, Gemini erroneously wrote. The artificial intelligence continued that water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but again, contradicted itself by saying that “temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit are required for water to freeze”.
In its response, Gemini failed to understand the numbers that represent the range of temperature, hence did not know that water freezes at lower temperatures.
Another user asked Google, “Why won’t water freeze at 27 degrees Fahrenheit and it reiterated that water freezes at 32°C (0°C) and will not freeze at a subzero temperature of -2.8°C (32°F) because the latter temperature “is not cold enough to trigger the freezing process”.

The detailed overview seemed to show it only understood that water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius, which translates to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, so any degree lower than that is wrong.
The discussion was raised by Lily Ray on X. The tweet saw other users posting correct answers from other AI chatboxes in the comment section. DuckDuckGo also showed off its AI Assist, giving the correct answer.
The revelation once again raises the question of whether artificial intelligence has developed well enough to drive the level of dependence it currently gets from mankind.
Research showed that answers given by highly placed AI like ChatGPT provide false information about 27% of the time, and their generated texts also contain errors about 46% of the time, which can be misleading, depending on the context.
