Viral videos that focused on Netanyahu showing his expression as Trump announced that the United States would take over and own the Gaza strip are making comments the Israeli PM was “owned”.
“The US will take over the Gaza strip, We will own it”, Trump says as Netanyahu who was looking at him from his left side, stops and straightens up, a posture many say was a sign that he was not at ease and probably was not aware.

Why Does Trump Want The US To Own The Gaza Strip
Trump said the U.S. will take ownership of the war-torn Gaza Strip and will be responsible for the removal of all residual dangers in the area such as unexploded bombs, buildings not fit for renovation, level the ground and turn the desolate area in the Middle East, to a thriving economic hub.
He said the new economic activity he envisioned for the place would create huge job opportunities for the inhabitants and also wants to change the name to the “Riviera of the Middle East”.
While commending the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Palestine, he said the new Gaza Strip under the ownership of the USA will be a final end to the conflict between both nations that has resulted in constant killings and bloodshed.
However, Trump did not specifically say why he wanted the Gaza Strip and what would be the gain for the U.S. given his mandate to limit spending on external matters that will not profit Americans.
Natantanu’s facial expressions and body movements left many online comments saying he never had that discussion with Trump.
Hamas already rejected the proposal and referred to it as a stage created for constant chaos, while also stressing that the people of Gaza will not be displaced. Trump’s announcement also amplified their fears of a complete ethnic cleansing which was also shared by the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).
The Palestinian State itself rejected the proposal and referred to it as an infringement on the rights of the people. Riyad Mansour, the head of the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations said the people of Gaza displaced by war should be allowed to come back to their land and reclaim their homes.
Contrary to public opinion that Trump might have taken Israel unaware, Netanyahu gave his support and praised him for his ability to “think outside the box” and come up with “fresh ideas”. He lauded their partnership and said “Israel’s victory will be America’s victory”
