Video: Burst Water Pipe In Bronx, New York, Floods Streets & Cars

A 48-inch pipe that bursted in the Bronx area of New York, had massive water flooding the streets, submerging cars and buildings and halting train services.

The incident happened on Monday night and affected several blocks around the vicinity. According to the NY Fire Department, they first got wind of the massive water break around 7.30pm on Monday and the affected area was between East 201st Street and East Mosholu Parkway South.

Videos from the streets showed cars standing still in massive floods – the water covering the hoods of many, as firefighters waded to find the root cause.

Efforts are already ongoing to shut the water and ease the flood by the NY Department of Environmental Protection, though no timeline was given as to when normalcy could be expected.

Though no injuries or fatality was recorded, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection issued a note of caution to citizens to keep clear of the flooded areas and expected traffic delays.

Though the flooding was traced to a burst water pipe, it however came after the city urged residents to ensure de-clogging drainage channels to ensure the free flow of water following heavy rainfalls.

Following the NYC Water Channel’s plea to get the city flowing, the streets got flowing with flooded water – an unexpected turn of events.
