Police confirmed the killing of three people, including the juvenile suspect behind the mass shooting at Madison Abundant Life Christian School in Wisconsin.
The shooting started at 10:57 a.m. on Monday morning, as reported by the Madison Police Chief, Shon Barnes.
In an earlier report by the authorities, they said that five people lost their lives and five were injured in the incident, but they later revised the count to five injured and three dead. The suspected shooter, who was believed to be a student of Madison Abundant Life Christian School, committed suicide inside the school building.
The identities of those who died in the shooting are yet to be made public, but the five people who got injured were ferried to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. In responding to the crime, police refused to fire their weapon.
The nondenominational school of almost 390 students, which ranges from kindergarten through 12th grade, has been put on lockdown.
“Prayers Requested! Today, we had an active shooter incident at ALCS,” the school posted on Facebook. “Please pray for our Challenger Family.”
Parents have gone to pick up their children before the lockdown while federal agents have provided support for local law enforcement.
The U.S. President, Joe Biden, has been given an update about the shooting, and the White House has immediately coordinated to provide support to local authorities.
