Officials: NYPD Officer And Suspect Shot In Queens

Police officials confirmed that an NYPD officer and a suspect were both wounded in a shooting incident in Queens on Monday evening.

The shooting occurred at 19-19 Mott Ave. in Far Rockaway, according to information provided by the NYPD. Further details about the incident were not immediately available.

“Due to a police investigation, avoid the area surrounding on Mott Avenue between Central Avenue and Smith Place in Queens. Expect a police presence and residual traffic delays in the surrounding area,” the NYPDshared on social media.

Video footage from the Citizen App captured around a dozen NYPD members and EMS personnel present on the street, alongside two FDNY ambulances with their lights activated. Meanwhile, a small group of bystanders gathered outside a nearby corner store.

Fabien Levy, a spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams, stated that the mayor has been briefed on the shooting.

“Mayor Adams is enroute to Jamaica Hospital now,” Levysaid on X.

Mayor Adams was slated to meet with the injured officer around 7 p.m. According to the mayor’s spokesperson, the NYPD will conduct a press briefing regarding the shooting, although the timing of the briefing remains uncertain.
