Egyptian international Mohamed Salah scored his 50th UEFA Champions League goal that earned Liverpool a tough 1-0 win against Spanish side Girona, securing their unbeaten group-stage record.

Liverpool’s forward, without a rush in the 63rd minute, converted a penalty caused after VAR ruled against Donny van de Beek for his attack on Luis Diaz in the box into a goal.

This goal makes it the 16th goal by the Egypt talisman this season, confirming his brilliant contributions for the Reds in the UEFA Champions League.

The match shows the ability of Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alison, after his return from a hamstring injury since October. Allison was in form in the first half of the match as he helped his side to create many saves, ending the game in a 0-0 draw after the first half.

The Premier League leader created multiple attempts with several missed from Darwin Nunez, but finally found the net after Mohammed Salah successfully converted a penalty into the saving goal.

This win put Liverpool as the leader in their group after winning their stuff and a near-certain place in the top eight. While Girona has been unable to get out of their troubles, sitting in the 30th position in the league table after they lost five of their six games.

While Liverpool await the Champions League, their focus will now shift to doing all they can to win the Premier League as they currently lead the table and will be playing against Fulham on Saturday; Girona will also play against Mallorca in La Liga.
