Monte McNair, the Sacramento Kings General Manager, has announced the sacking of Mike Brown today as he is relieved of his head coach duty with Doug Christie coming in as interim head coach.
The newly appointed interim head coach is in his third season with the team as an assistant coach. During his time as an NBA star, he played for 15 seasons and was drafted 17th overall in 1992 by the Seattle SuperSonics.
Doug Christie recorded 4.1 rebounds, 11.2 points, 1.9 steals, and 3.6 assists in his 827 career matches played. While he was a player with the Sacramento Kings between 2000 and 2005, he was instrumental to the team reaching the playoffs every season, and he was awarded a lot of All-Defensive Team awards and the First Team in 2002-2003.
Christie was a color analyst for the team between 2017 and 2021 before he went into coaching.
The recently sacked head coach, Mike Brown, joined the team in May 2022 after staying six seasons at the Golden State Warriors, where he led the team to a 107-88 record while he was there.
The Kings hope to perform better under the leadership of Christie.
