Kyle McCord helped his team, No. 22 Syracuse, to a commanding 52-35 victory against Washington State in the Holiday Bowl on Friday night by throwing for 453 yards and five touchdowns as he breaks Deshaun Watson’s ACC season passing record.

LeQuint Allen was also noted as rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns, making him reach his second straight 1,000-yard season for the Orange (10-3), who got their first 10-victory season since they last did it in 2018.

Fran Brown, the head coach, joined Paul Pasqualoni (1991) as the only coaches that have managed Syracuse since World War II to record 10 games victory in their first season.

Syracuse star Kyle McCord came into the match with 4,326 passing yards, with the need to beat Watson’s 2016 history with a 50-yard pass to Darrell Gill Jr. early in the second half, ending the season with not less than 4,779 yards.

He also took the school records overboard by throwing 34 touchdown passes, 391 completions, and 558 attempts.

Washington State (8-5) did not give up without a good fight despite losing their good players and staff. Zevi Eckhaus, who is a backup quarterback for the team, recorded three for 363 yards and three touchdowns, as Kyle Williams made 172 receiving yards, making it the first ever in a Holiday Bowl.
