Kai Havertz‘s first-half goal was enough to help Arsenal earn a whopping 3 points against a stubborn Ipswich Town as they moved to the second position of the Premier League’s table.
Kai Havertz scored the goal that gave Arsenal the victory in the 23rd minute after a pinpoint cross assist came from the left through Leandro Trossard.
Despite dominating the match in the first half as Arsenal recorded 83.5% possession, the efforts did not turn into enough goals against second-bottom Ipswich. Arsenal also misses some clear chances as Declan Rice came close to scoring a goal, and Gabriel Jesus’s goal was ruled out for an offside after he squeezed the ball through Arijanet Muric’s legs.
Ipswich Town’s momentum increased in the second half, but forward Liam Delap could not do much against a difficult Arsenal defense courtesy of William Saliba and Gabriel.
Gabriel Jesus also lost a golden chance to make it 2 for the Gunners, heading wide from inside the six-yard box. Havertz also lost a good chance for a second goal.
The victory for Arsenal returns them to second on the league’s table, coming six points behind only leaders Liverpool, but they ended the year as winners at their home in the league.
