The game scheduled to be played between Everton and league leader Liverpool at Goodison Park has been postponed on safety reasons due to severe weather conditions that were caused by Storm Darragh.

A weather alert was issued on Saturday for strong winds. After a meeting was held between the two teams and representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, the game was called off.

In Everton’s statement, the club stated that “whilst we appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, the safety of fans, staff, and players is of paramount importance.”

Liverpool, in their statement, claimed that the decision was “due to the risk to safety in the local area.”

A lot of people who live or have something to do around Wales and south-west England have been issued warnings to stay in their houses so that they can avoid the danger that can happen because of the storm.

Forecasters have also issued warnings that the winds will likely be up to 90 mph in some parts of the area.

All the other four Premier League matches scheduled for the day will be played according to the time scheduled for them.
