Leicester City made a late attempt after Jordan Ayew, who came in as a substitute, scored a penalty that was caused by a foul committed by Bobby De Cordova-Reid, but the team were unable to equalize.
The victory was a much-needed one for Chelsea after a rough start to the season; they now sit in third place in the Premier League table with only one point behind Manchester City and three points over Arsenal. The loss left Leicester City three points above the relegation size, while their woes in the season will have Abdul Fatawu’s absence for the remainder of the season as a factor due to his knee injury.
