Leicester City has signed Tom Cannon, a product of Everton’s Youth Academy who went on to play for the senior club in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old joins the Foxes for an undisclosed fee, after signing a five-year contract with City.
Speaking about the move, he said:
“It feels amazing. I just can’t wait to get started. I was just looking forward to getting it over the line and it’s all been sorted now so I’m glad. When a club like Leicester comes calling, it’s hard to say no.
“Having a look around the training ground so far, the facilities are unbelievable, and just the size of the club, it’s a massive club.
“Everyone knows where the club belongs – that’s in the Premier League. I’m sure that’s the aim this season, just to get back to the top and then take it from there.”
After signing with the senior club, he made his senior Toffees debut in a Carabao Cup clash at Bournemouth in November 2022.
He also played his final match for Everton against Leicester City, before moving on loan to Preston North End in January 2023.
Internationally, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at the youth level, and most recently earned a first call-up to the Under-21s team in March 2023.
