Bournemouth destroyed Manchester City’s 32-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League after a 2-1 win against Guardiola’s side on Saturday, putting Liverpool in the first position on the league’s table.
The hosts netted their goals on both sides of halftime, with Antoine Semenyo helping Bournemouth secure the first goal while Evanilson added the second goal shortly after the break. Josko Gvardiol converted an assist from İlkay Gündoğan in the 82nd minute into a goal.
Manchester City lost their first game of the season in a League Cup game against Tottenham earlier in the week, were weekend by injuries.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had earlier confirmed before the game that many of his players pushed through pains to play, yet Bournemouth, fresh off victory against the Gunners, took advantage. Semenyo’s quick turn off a cross from Milos Kerkez to secure an early goal in the 9th minute, while Evanilson took advantage of another cross from Kerkez and turned it into a goal after the hour.
Josko Gvardiol headed a cross from Ilkay Gundogan into the net in the 82nd minute, and Erling Haaland missed a beautiful opportunity that would have equalized the game, hitting the crossbar.
Liverpool is now topping the Premier League table after beating Brighton 2-1, while Arsenal lost three points against Newcastle in a 1-0 defeat.
