Videos: Yemen Houthi’s Rebels Blow Up British & Liberia Oil Vessels At Red Sea

Yemen Houthis Rebels Claim Responsibility For Missile and Drone Attacks on Vessels at Red Sea Port of Hodeidah

On Tuesday, plumes of smoke were captured coming out of two vessels that had been hit by missile and sea drone attacks launched by Yemen Houthi’s rebels at the Red Sea port of Hodeidah.

Reuters reports that one of the vessels has been identified as a Panama-flagged tanker M/T Cordelia Moon and the other a Liberia-flagged bulker. According to the same outlet, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations stated that the Cordelia Moon was hit on the port side tank, about 118 kilometers Northwest of Hodeidah by an uncrewed surface boat.

According to Yemen Houthi’s rebels, who released the original footage and are claiming responsibility, the Cordelia Moon was also damaged by a drone together with 8 ballistic and winged missiles.

The Liberia-flagged bulker, on the other hand, which the firm says was heading to Suez, was attacked about a hundred and seventy kilometers (170km) northwest by a missile.

The crews on both ships have been confirmed to be safe. While the incidents are still under investigation, the rebels have claimed that another attack was also carried out on a third ship called Marathopolis in the Indian Ocean.

Since November last year, the Houthis have been involved in the war between Israel and Hamas, choosing to ally with the latter by launching attacks on Israel and disrupting shipping in the Red Sea. Just three months ago, the Houthis claimed a drone attack that was launched in Tel Aviv, which killed a civilian and left many injured.
