Girona has lost its second UEFA Champions League game this time, against Feyenoord, through other own goals and a missed penalty in their home game.

The Spanish side, which took third in their home league to feature in this season’s Champions League, scored the first goal in the match through 34-year-old defender David Lopez in the 19th minute but were soon to be equalized in the 23rd minute when Quinten Timber’s header deflected in off Girona midfielder Yangel Herrera.

Feyenoord took the lead in the 33rd minute through a goal that was scored by teenager Antoni Milambo, while they also missed the opportunity to convert a penalty caused by a foul on Timber into a goal as goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga saved the shot from Ayase Ueda.

Girona also scored a goal in the second half that was ruled out but was soon awarded a penalty kick after Timon Wellenreuther committed a foul against Bojan Miovski in the box; the penalty kick was saved by Feyenoord goalkeeper.

Girona got a draw through a goal by Donny van de Beek, scoring his first goal for the team since he joined the team from Premier League side Manchester United in the summer.

Girona’s hope of finishing with a draw in the competition was soon dashed after their defender Ladislav Krejci mistakenly diverted Paixao’s 79th-minute cross into his team’s net.

Girona also lost their first game against Paris Saint-Germain after a match that was supposed to end in a draw ended in a 1-0 defeat after Girona’s goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga scored an own goal.
