Erik ten Hag Criticizes Match Officials Over Controversial Penalty After Man Utd Lost 2-1 to West Ham

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has expressed disapproval with the officials who officiated in the match between his team and West Ham where his side lost 2-1 to the host.

Erik ten Hag disagreed with the decision to sanction his player Matthijs de Ligt for a clumsy attack on Danny Ings, tagging the decision as “unfair and unjust.”

West Ham recorded the first lead after Crysencio Summerville scored his first goal for West Ham in the 74th minute through an assist by Danny Ings, Casemiro converted an assist by Joshua Orobosa Zirkzee into a goal to equalize in the 81st minute. Jarrod Bowen sealed the victory for West Ham after VAR ruled the penalty in favor of West Ham which caused frustration from the Manchester United manager.

Erik ten Hag was initially frustrated in a previous match against Tottenham when Bruno Fernandes was shown red during their 3-0 defeat, a suspension that was later reconsidered. He mentioned this week that he is not going to acknowledge the result between his team and Tottenham due to the red card’s overturned.

Regardless of how the coach feel about the match officials, he also acknowledged Manchester United’s inability to convert chances into goals, as the team recorded 1.48 expected goals in the first half but could not score, one of which is the obvious miss from an open goal in the 32nd minute by Diogo Dalot.
