Cole Palmer made an extraordinary pass that secured Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge against Newcastle United. The Blues almost had their early lead when Palmer received a pass from Nicolas Jackson, who intelligently moved past Nick Pope, but the attempt was ruled out by VAR for offside by a fraction that denied Chelsea a goal.

Palmer’s great pass was kudos shortly after by Jamie Carragher, as he labeled it “one of the best in Premier League history,” setting up Pedro Neto on the left.

Neto avoided Fabian Schar’s challenge with skills before he crossed to Jackson, who brilliantly converted the assist into a goal, scoring his 10th goal in the 14 matches he had played this season. Newcastle equalized to put it in a draw after half an hour through a goal by Alexander Isak and an assist from Lewis Hall, making it a 1-1 draw after a close check for an offside.

Chelsea scored another in the early minutes of the second half to reclaim the lead after Palmer converted a pass from Romeo Lavia to beat Pope at his near post to score, which made it his 17th goal at Stamford Bridge this year.

Newcastle almost scored another goal to end the match in a draw after Isak’s header cleared the line and his effort was saved by Wesley Fofana. Chelsea was also close to getting a penalty kick to its advantage, but the opportunity by Dan Burn’s tug on Christopher Nkunku was ruled out by VAR.

Chelsea now sits in the 5th place in the Premier League table, while Newcastle has dropped to the 12th position after playing five matches without winning any.
