Buffalo Bills Acquire Wide Receiver Amari Cooper From Cleveland Browns

On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns to bring into the team Amari Cooper in exchange for Josh Allen, a top-tier wide receiver.

The contract includes the Bills giving Cleveland a 2025 third-round pick and a 7th-round pick in 2026, while the Bills also receive Amari Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick.

Cooper, who is now 30 years old, is expected to fill the vacuum left after Buffalo traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this season; he will be standing in as the Bills’ number-one receiver.

This contract was made possible immediately when the New York Jets, who are AFC East rivals to them, made a trade for Devante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Cooper becomes one of the most sought-after from the Browns, who are in the final year of a five-year deal that he formerly signed with the Dallas Cowboys. This is possible because Cleveland turned most of his $20 million salary into a signing bonus.

The player had also suffered a lot of challenges this season, and he is yet to reach 20 points in its first six games for Cleveland after he posted a career-high 1,250 receiving yards in 2023.

While Cooper has an average of 4.7 yards per target, which happens to be the second lowest among qualifying received in the league, along with three drops tied for the six most in the NFL, he is currently leading the Browns with 250 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The Bills will miss Cooper so much, as he provided the team with much-needed strength at the receiver when he was with them.

The Browns are well prepared to make room for Cooper by releasing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday.

Cooper also boasts of 10 season careers with 9,736 yards, 62 touchdowns and 691 catches.

This new contract marks the third time that Cooper has been moved from one team to another; he was moved in 2018 by the Raiders to the Cowboys, while Dallas also traded him to the Browns in 2022.
