On Thursday morning, there was an earthquake that shook across Southern California, affecting places to inland communities, and coming from the coast, it was centered in Malibu.
It previously measured a magnitude of 5.1, and not too long later it reduced to 4.7. This earthquake preceded over 24 aftershocks, which include two with a magnitude of 3.4, and an extra aftershock may happen in hours and days to come.
The earthquake happened at around 7:28 in the morning. Deaths numbering about 7 miles were felt in places like Malibu, Hermosa Beach, La Mirada, Anaheim, Santa Monica, and the Hollywood Hills, including parts of the San Fernando Valley. Again, ones with a shallow depth of between 0 and 40 miles may also be felt.
No damages or injuries have occurred or been mentioned.
Los Angeles’ Metro is about to create precautions that include slowing down trains to check for likely damage after standard post-earthquake protocols.
A 4.6-magnitude earthquake also occurred in the region around northwest Malibu in February. It also triggered a lot of aftershocks in the Santa Monica Mountains.
A witness and a resident in the area, Mark Little, said in his comment that the shaking that occurred now felt different from the tremors that occurred earlier.
The owner of Scott’s Malibu Market, Scott Richter, also experienced the feelings of the earthquake while he was approaching his work. The moment when the shaking occurred was captured by security footage from his store.
