According to a 66-year-old retired Chinese inventor, an earthquake-proof bed might save you from being killed by falling debris from a building collapse, by burying you alive.
You just have to be lying on the bed when the earthquake happens – if it occurs when you are watching a TV show or taking a shit, your investment is a waste.
Then if you were fortunate to be asleep on the earthquake bed, you have to pray it is not the end of the world and somebody soon gets down to dig you out before you run out of oxygen or food supply – yes, the safe-bed also has storage for water, fire extinguisher, gas masks, medical supplies, and the likes.
Wang Wenxi’s “Anti Earth-Quake Bed” was designed to immediately turn into what looks like reinforced metal vaults once it detects an earthquake or tremor.
According to him, he was inspired to develop it after the Yushu earthquakes, which took many lives. “I think my life-saving bed is useful, especially suitable for brick-and-concrete low-rise buildings and bungalows,” he added.
